Although the visa procedure of all Schengen countries is quite similar, the average processing time is 21-28 working days. There are 2 types of applications called single-entry and Multi-entry. No matter which option you choose during the application, the consulate of the applied country has the authority to make decisions depending on the situation of each applicant.

When you want to apply for a visa to any of the Schengen countries, whichever country the application is to be made in, you must apply from the application centers that that country has determined in Turkey. Consulates do not accept applications for short-term type C visas and have assigned their own designated application centers for these procedures. IDATA application center is used for Germany and Italy applications, and VFS GLOBAL application center is used for many other schengen countries.

Schengen visa fees vary depending on the application option of the requested country of the visa. Visa fees range on average from 80-110 EUR.Dec.

Citizens of the Republic of Turkey who hold an Ordinary (Burgundy) passport are subject to a visa upon entry into the Schengen area, but holders of Special(Green), Service(Gray) and Diplomatic(Black) passports are exempt from a visa for travel up to 90 days within 6 months.

The application centers designated by the Schengen member states require fingerprints during the application. However, as of September 25, 2015, they do not require fingerprints again from applicants who have given fingerprints once. Every applicant who has not received a Schengen visa before this date must submit an application in person at the application center, as they must provide fingerprints.

In addition, consulates may make requests such as additional documents, interviews, and re-submission of the same document for applications made, and they have the right to reject the application, even if all October documents are correct and in accordance with the procedure.

As of September 25, 2015, fingerprinting has been made mandatory for Schengen visa applications. For this reason, visa applicants must come to the application centers in person and submit a fingerprint statement.

Schengen member states have saved this information collected in order to receive applications more easily in their systems for 5 years, eliminating the need for personal applications every time.

This system is called ”Visa Information System“ consisting of the first letters of the words ”VIS“ and is expressed as ”VIS" on visas, except for Schengen visas issued by some countries in 2016.

The fingerprints that you must provide during your visa application to the Schengen member states are a process that should be other than the fingerprints that you have given to the authorities of the Republic of Turkey, and do not forget that even if you have a VIS registration, every application center has the right to call you back for a fingerprint statement
